On the occasion of its ninth anniversary, Quang Trung Software City Development Corp. (QTSC) plans to launch the cloud computing service, which caters to the business community. Given its advantages, QTSC hopes to become Vietnam’s leading cloud service provider within the next three years. Lam Nguyen Hai Long, director of the cloud service project, discusses this business initiative. Why does QTSC focus on providing cloud services? What are QTSC’s advantages? Cloud computing helps enterprises minimize expenditure and use resources effectively by, for instance, sharing a system and slashing installation and operation time as much as possible, in line with modern standards. In particular, fees are charged on a pay-as-you-use basis, which is suitable for this belt-tightening period. QTSC’s complete technical infrastructure with Internet connections, data centers, stable power supplies and excellent human resources enables it to provide the best cloud services. Thanks to support from the municipal authorities, QTSC has become the first to cooperate with IBM Vietnam to offer cloud services to State agencies, which are highly commended. This model will be adopted on a broader scale in the south. What does this service cater to? QTSC offers two services. The public cloud service includes popular applications that serve the needs of consumers. The private cloud service is designed to meet the specific demands of enterprises, especially those operating in a variety of fields such as consumer goods, insurance and banking. Start-ups will also benefit from this service. There are also free-of-charge services for non-profit organizations in education, health care and charity, to help them minimize the costs of operating the information technology (IT) system. Are there any problems in the implementation of cloud services? Challenges are inevitable when a new service is offered. The most important issue is to create trust among users. Next, the technical solutions must be proven to ensure data protection and meet some other criteria. However, I am confident that QTSC’s experience in launching new services will help it succeed in this latest endeavor. What are QTSC’s partners and when will the service be officially unveiled? In Vietnam, IBM, Cisco Systems, HP and some other companies are offering cloud services. QTSC is joining forces with them to provide the best technical solutions that maximize consumer gains. The park is working actively with domestic and foreign partners to implement this project. It is looking for and hoping to join hands with interested partners. QTSC plans to officially launch this service in the second quarter. QTSCOnline (Theo QTSC News) |
